Environmental Sustainable Design

Project 1: Green-Go 2013 International Short Film Contest ( Individual )
This is an individual project that required us to create either a campaign film or short film that will increase the awareness of current environmental issues locally and globally. The films can be made in any genre but it should be creative, shocking and funny.

I made an short campaign film about the problem of using plastic bags in Malaysia. It warns the citizens in Malaysia that 38 countries in this world has banned plastic bags but Malaysia are still using it. The video suggests people to use reusable bag whenever they go shopping so that they can reduce the amount of plastic bag being waste. Throughout this project, I explored the concept of environmental and ecological sustainability. Besides, I had  learned how to exemplify creativity in in attempting exploring the current environmental circumstance by using a different media to create this video. Finally, I recognized the role responsibility of an architect towards the environment and also the society.

Below are some sketches I did for the video

This is the campaign film with the title of  "Stop Using Plastic Bags, Bring Your Own Reusable Bags!"

Project 2: Appreciating Environment-Nothing is Considered Waste ( Group & Individual )
In the group project, we are required to produce an A2 size research poster of our studies, findings, innovative solution on the waste materials found in the construction sites. For the individual project, we are required to produce a beautiful object made out from construction waste.

For this project, my group members were Diyana, Meera and Surayyn and we were exposed to general construction material wastage. We learned how to produce a complete documentation and analysis of waste on construction sites. We found out the reasons why construction materials is produced on site. Then, we managed to come out different innovative and create solutions that can be adopted in reducing and recycling materials.

For the individual project, I created a pencil holder using PVC pipes. The concept of this PVC pencil holder is in a form of tree. It acts as a sign to warn human beings that we will have to replace trees with man made ( plastic ) trees if the trees extinct. Besides, it reminds human beings to conserve and preserve the trees while placing the pencils/ colour pencils on it. The longer PVC pipe is for users to place their new long pencils/ colour pencils into it while the shorter ones encourage users to use their pencils as short as possible to minimize the usage of wood and graphite lead.
